Strengthening the BMI in Bologna

In order to improve the plant’s productivity, the construction of new maintenance areas is planned in addition to the upgrading of existing facilities. The entire intervention is being carried out in successive construction stages to ensure the operational continuity of the maintenance plant currently in operation. The upgrade of the IMC in central Bologna is the first Executive Project of a maintenance facility developed by ITALFERR directly using BIM methodology in order to allow the customer a future use of the models for building management and maintenance.

Project Details

The existing spaces, as well as the newly constructed ones, will be equipped with all the necessary for maintenance of the newly designed regional POP and ROCK trains, thanks to the work carried out and to be carried out.

The entire intervention is being carried out in successive construction stages to ensure the operational continuity of the maintenance plant currently in operation. The upgrade of the IMC in central Bologna is the first Executive Project of a maintenance facility developed by ITALFERR directly using BIM methodology in order to allow the customer a future use of the models for building management and maintenance.

Main interventions

– Expansion of the existing facilities within the plant for maintenance purposes known as Rimessa TD and Rimessa Ale
– Plant engineering and equipping spaces for maintenance
– Construction of a plate track on the south side of the Ale shed
– Revision of the entire root system of the yards on the Milan and Bologna sides
