Urban Redevelopment Plan

Through this intervention, the City of Milan responded to the urgent demand for this type of service in the context of the new Rubattino/Maserati Urban Redevelopment Plan.
The result is a shell with traditional, calming architectural forms, but with a technologically advanced “heart”, capable of guaranteeing high levels of comfort in all seasons, together with reduced system consumption. To meet the needs of the small (and large) users, large, bright interior spaces were combined with outdoor landscaping, rich in trees and hedges.

The result is a shell with traditional, calming architectural forms, but with a technologically advanced “heart”, capable of guaranteeing high comfort levels in all seasons, together with reduced system consumption. To meet the needs of the small (and large) users, large, bright interior spaces were combined with outdoor landscaping, rich in trees and hedges. The building has been constructed with innovative, eco-friendly building materials with high thermal-insulating performance and optimises the energy exchanges between inside and outside, ensuring optimal end-user comfort and energy class.

Main interventions

The typical features of traditional architecture are integrated with modern elements and innovative technology, such as the flat roof for photovoltaic panels, the ‘light flues’ and the functional articulation of the interior spaces. The openings make maximum use of natural ventilation and sunlight in the rooms. The walls have been constructed in such a way as to guarantee maximum damping of the noise from outside, footfall noise and noise from installations.

Sustainability

The building has been constructed with innovative eco-friendly building materials with high thermal-insulating performance and it optimises the energy exchange between inside and outside, ensuring optimal comfort for end users and an optimal energy class.
