This particularly important intervention is part of an ambitious expansion and renovation programme promoted by Autostrade del Brennero. The works are part of the Ala-Avio (TN) motorway junction on the Brenner motorway and include the renovation of the motorway station (the number of lanes will be increased from three to six) and the Service Centre for Motorway Safety (CSA) in Ala-Avio, including the construction of a car park for motorway users.
Special attention is given to the ordinary road system, in particular the current junction on the forecourt, i.e. the construction of a roundabout to connect with the road S.P. 90 over the ‘Biffis’ canal, via two bridges in a mixed steel-concrete structure. The new roundabout will accommodate all traffic to and from the bus station, to and from the users’ car park and to and from the CSA, avoiding any possible crossing of the station forecourt.
The works also include the widening of the acceleration lane on the southbound carriageway, a functional intervention for the use of the dynamic third lane. The programme of works, with the maintenance of traffic exiting and entering the motorway station, involves carrying out the works in several phases.
