AV/AC railway line Brescia Est - Verona

The new HS/HC Brescia East – Verona railway line runs for about 48 km, crossing 2 Regions, 3 Provinces and 11 Municipalities mostly alongside the existing infrastructures in the area, starting its route in the municipality of Mazzano (Brescia), until it reaches the municipality of Verona on the western side with the new HS tracks and the new interconnection of Verona Merci.

Project Details

The railway route crosses 2 regions, 3 provinces, 11 municipalities and runs mostly alongside existing infrastructure in the area, about 30 km parallel to the A4 motorway and about 8 km in alignment with the railway line.
The works are located in the municipalities of Mazzano, Calcinato and Lonato del Garda, all in the province of Brescia.

From the beginning of the route in Mazzano, in the province of Brescia, the new railway separates, with a new junction, from the conventional Milan-Venice railway line, running alongside it for about 2 km.
This is followed by the section running parallel to the north of the A4 Milan-Venice motorway at the Chiese viaduct, which overlaps the river itself, in the municipality of Calcinato (BS).

Sustainability

The line will make it possible to reduce interference between different transport flows, making traffic flow smoother and increasing traffic capacity at the Brescia and Verona railway junctions, with important benefits for the regularity and punctuality of both long-distance and regional services, as well as freight transport.

All this will have an important environmental impact as sustainable mobility will be promoted and improved, considering that trains will be able to travel at a speed of 250km/h and more than 150km will be covered in total.
