A new structure for the Venice and Rovigo Chamber of Commerce

The Venice Chamber of Commerce, currently based in the city centre, had been in need of new premises for some time.

This new location, also known as the ‘mainland location’, was created to serve the needs of the Chamber of Commerce within the larger institutional complex of the Ca’ Foscari University Campus in Turin.

Not only services, but also university and research given the construction of the new Glass Experimental Station – a place where a special activity takes place and which will become a reference point for experts in the field, both nationally and internationally.

Project Details

The buildings were constructed using different types of materials: steel, reinforced concrete and fibre cement, so as not to compromise on aesthetic harmony.
The Chamber of Commerce includes the location, depending on the plan, of offices (open or not open to the public), reception areas, meeting rooms, representative and operational offices.

Main interventions

The structures have been dimensioned to meet the requirements of strength and load capacity related to the intended uses, as well as to address the specific needs identified during the detailed design studies, particularly with reference to the Glass Experimental Station.
The levels of equipment and finishing in the various environments are designed to ensure comfort without losing sight of practicality in use, management, and maintenance.

Sustainability

Thanks to trigeneration technology, buildings will autonomously produce much of the electricity needed both for heating areas in winter and cooling them in summer.
They are in fact built with insulating material and for this reason, will achieve 100 per cent energy savings.

In addition, a photovoltaic system was installed on both buildings and the entire parking area in order to make the most of solar energy by harnessing renewables and significantly reducing the environmental impact.
The works are realised following the LEED – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design protocols in order to comply with international standards.
